कोरोना प्रकोप में ई-शिक्षण, सीखना और सिखाना

नयी दिल्ली - वर्ष 2000 से पहले तक इतिहास ऐसी कई महामारियों को झेल चुका है जिन्होंने मानव सभ्यता के विकास को अपने घुटने टेकने पर मजबूर कर दिया। वो चाहे दुनिया की पहली महामारी जस्टिनियन का प्लेग हो या फिर भारत में फैला हैजा रोग। जब मौत घर के दरवाज़े पर दस्तक दे रही हो तब विद्यालय जाने की कौन सोच सकता है?

बीती सदियों में आई महामारियों ने जहाँ शिक्षा को काफी पीछे धकेल दिया था हीं इस सदी की कोरोना महामारी के सामने नई तकनीक एवं शिक्षा व्यवस्था ने घुटने टेकने से इंकार कर दिया| आपदा में अवसर के रूप में ई-शिक्षण उभर कर आया। ई-शिक्षण यानी इलेक्ट्रॉनिक शिक्षा कोरोना के कारण दुनिया थम सी गई थी, जिसमें भारत भी शामिल था। स्कूल हों या दफ्तर या कोई अन्य कार्य स्थल सब जगह सन्नाटा पसरा था| पारंपरिक कक्षा एक नई चुनौती का सामना कर रही थी। चुनौती सिर्फ छात्रों के भविष्य के लिए शैक्षणिक व्यवस्था को बनाए रखना ही नहीं था, बल्कि एक ऐसी वैकल्पिक व्यवस्था को आकार भी देना था, जिसकी कल्पना भी इससे पहले तक किसी ने नहीं की थी।

किसी ने सही ही कहा है आवश्यकता अविष्कार की जननी होती है | भारत सहित कई देशों में शिक्षण प्रक्रिया ने नया रूप लिया l हमारी तत्परता ही सीखने सिखाने की प्रक्रिया का केंद्र है l चुनौतियों से भरी इस नई पद्धति को शिक्षक/शिक्षिकाओं ने वरदान में बदल दियाl आज ई-शिक्षण ने सम्पूर्ण शैक्षिक व्यवस्था में अपना स्थान बना लिया हैl आभासी दुनिया आभासी कक्षा प्रणाली अपने उपयोगकर्ताओं को दोहरा लाभ पहुंचाने का सामर्थ्य रखती है, जैसे- विद्यार्थियों को अपेक्षित अधिगम अनुभव प्रदान करने में या किसी भी स्थान पर बैठे हुए अपनी गति से सीखने में। यह प्रणाली 24x7 विद्यार्थियों को उपलब्ध रहती है। इस प्रकार की सुविधा परंपरागत तरीके से उपलब्ध शिक्षा प्रणाली में नहीं हो सकती थी।

इस प्रणाली में नवीन तकनीकी सामग्री और माध्यमों का प्रयोग होने के कारण शिक्षा अधिगम कार्य विद्यार्थियों के लिए रुचिकर तथा प्रेरणादायक बन जाता है। मन: स्थिति पर प्रभाव छात्रों की मन: स्थिति पर ऑनलाइन का व्यापक प्रभाव पड़ा हैl ऑनलाइन व ऑफलाइन कक्षा में निरंतर बदलाव होने के कारण बच्चों को एकाग्रचित होकर पढ़ने में बहुत परेशानी आयी । कक्षा में छात्रों की उपस्थिति कम हो गई, जिससे शिक्षकों को भी कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ रहा थाl छात्रों की लेखन क्षमता पर नकारात्मक प्रभाव पड़ा है | सामाजिक दूरी के कारण आपसी जुड़ाव में कमी आई है l जैसे-जैसे बच्चे बड़े होते हैं भावनात्मक जरूरतें परिवर्तित होती रहती हैं और ई- शिक्षण इन जरूरतों को पूरी करने में असमर्थ रहा है l विद्यार्थी अपने मित्रों से दूर होकर अकेलापन महसूस कर रहे थे, जिससे मानसिक तनाव में वृद्धि हुईl खेलकूद छात्रों के सर्वांगीण विकास के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक है, लेकिन उन दिनों वह भी एक सपने जैसा हो गया थाl कोविड की वजह से छात्रों का ज्यादा समय तकनीकी उपकरणों के साथ हो रहा था, जिसके कारण उनकी सेहत पर बुरा असर हो रहा था l आभासी दुनिया का ‘कड़वा’ अनुभव आभासी कक्षा छात्रों को बेहतर संचार और गहरी समझ के अवसरों से वंचित कर रही थी। भारतीय छात्रों के बीच हुए एक अध्ययन में पाया गया कि यह अनुभव उनके लिए काफी कड़वा रहा|

प्रतिदिन विद्यालय आने से छात्रों की एक सुनिश्चित दिनचर्या होती थी जो आभासी कक्षाओं में कहीं गुम हो गई थी| प्राकृतिक वातावरण से भी जुड़ नहीं पा रहे थेl आभासी दुनिया की हलचल उनके व्यवहार में दिखने लगी है| छात्रों में व्यग्रता और घबराहट की वृद्धि हो रही है l विशेषताओं के साथ मिली चुनौतियाँ ऑनलाइन शिक्षण में कुछ विशेषताएँ हैं तो कई कमियाँ भी हैं, जो अपने साथ कई चुनौतियाँ लाई हैं| ऑनलाइन शिक्षण पारंपरिक शिक्षण की जगह तो नहीं ले सकता परंतु आज की परिस्थिति में यह वरदान साबित हुआ हैl भारत में ई- शिक्षा को सुधारने में सरकार भी प्रयास कर रही हैl शिक्षण प्रणाली में समय - समय पर बदलाव आता रहा है और यही बदलाव उसमें नयापन भी लाता है, जो भविष्य को बेहतर बनाने में काफी मददगार होता है|

STTAR Session on ‘Digital Leadership And Learning’ with Eric Sheninger Yields Valuable Insights for Educators

Saamarthya Teachers Training Academy of Research (STTAR), Ghaziabad, conducted an online session on 'Digital Leadership and Learning' in education by Eric Sheninger, a world-famous digital pioneer and bestselling author.

The session was held on Saturday, 29th January 2022, and was virtually attended by a large number of educators from schools and institutions from India, UAE, Qatar, and Bangladesh. During the two-hour session, Eric Sheninger explained in detail the seven pillars of digital leadership in education:

  1. Student engagement, learning, and outcomes
  2. Learning environment
  3. Professional learning
  4. Communications
  5. Public Relations
  6. Branding
  7. Opportunity

Each pillar highlighted the potential for digital transformation in different aspects of today’s education ecosystem. Sheninger shared important actionable strategies that educators can implement right away to support and enhance current areas of professional practice through a digital lens.

Emphasizing the importance of digital leadership and learning in 21st-century education, Sheninger said, “As the internet has evolved, we are in the midst of a period of time where technology is going to become more and more prevalent in our lives of students. And now we have the pandemic as well. What we are experiencing are two of the most disruptive forces that are providing us an opportunity to take a critical look at our practice and think about what we can do in our classrooms, in our schools, and in our countries to future-proof learning for our kids…When we think about digital leadership and learning, the idea is to improve learning outcomes first. We have to empower our kids to think, know, act and go. We have to digitally transform the learning environment.”

Sheninger propagated the mantra of ‘Working smarter and not harder. He also highlighted how modern learners are using different digital tools to solve problems, develop a better understanding and improve performance.

Among the key takeaways of the session was a detailed explication of the Rigour/Relevance Framework that Sheninger guided the educators to utilize for analyzing instruction, pedagogy, and student performance both with and without technology. Sheninger stressed the three Rs: Rigour, Relevance, and Relationship to foster better engagement and communication between all stakeholders in the education landscape.

“It all comes down to relationships. Without trust, there is no relationship. Without relationships, no real learning occurs,” he said.

The digital pioneer also helped the attendees in developing an understanding of digital pedagogy and the keys to building teacher capacity. The educators also learned to identify the elements of personalized learning to improve school culture, measure the effectiveness of their work with technology, develop an effective communication plan, use the power of storytelling, and actively engage in personalized professional growth.

To add to these valuable insights, STTAR also shared with each attendee exclusive access to six pre-recorded lectures on school leadership and the ecosystem. Each attendee got useful resource material and a STTAR participation certificate.

STTAR Reaches Great Milestone with Collaboration to Train 10,000 UP Teachers

Saamarthya Teachers Training Academy of Research (STTAR), Ghaziabad, has reached a great milestone after the UP government collaborated with it to train 10,000 teachers in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as a part of its five-point scheme.

The scheme was launched on Friday, 8th October 2021, in Lucknow, by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Dinesh Sharma, at a function attended by Shri Shishir Jaipuria, Chairman of Seth Anandram Jaipuria Group of Educational Institutions. The training programme will be a part of the five-point scheme inaugurated by the UP govt to promote quality education and support girl students in the state.

At the launch, Shri Dinesh Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality education to the students of government schools and he praised the STTAR initiative to train 10,000 teachers.

Chairman Shishir Jaipuria lauded the government’s scheme in his address. He said, “The launch of the five-pledge scheme to promote quality education and improve learning outcomes in the government schools of Uttar Pradesh is indeed a laudable initiative.

I welcome it wholeheartedly and I am glad that Saamarthya Teachers Training Academy of Research has been given the opportunity to train 10,000 teachers of the government schools of UP in Information and Communications Technology in the online mode.”

STTAR will conduct the online training of 10,000 teachers as a part of its corporate social responsibility. All trainings will be conducted in the virtual mode by the expert trainers of STTAR in a timebound manner.

NLP was originally devised in the 1970s and was the joint brainchild of a mathematician and computer scientist, Richard Bandler, and a professor in linguistics, John Grinder.

NLP has revolutionized the way in which teachers communicate with their students and help in their personal development. Furthermore, teachers are better equipped to handle challenging behaviors and difficult situations in the classroom with the help of NLP. For instance, bullying is a difficult situation that often arises in schools and teachers can utilize one of the key tools of NLP: Perceptual Positioning to solve the problem. Through perceptual positioning, teachers can inspire the bully and the bullied to exchange perspectives and try to see the situation through each other’s eyes.

NLP is not only helpful in difficult situations but also allows teachers to build a positive rapport with the students. Teachers generally work according to a lesson plan, but NLP allows them to step out of rigid methods of teaching and build on a different approach depending on the reactions of the students. This leads to much better outcomes and a more positive rapport between the student and the teacher.

One of the most difficult situations a teacher has to deal with is creating enthusiasm in the class for the lesson being taught. However, teachers have found interesting methods to overcome this problem by using simple NLP techniques such as voice modulation, creating the right pacing with each lesson, and other methods.

The most appealing factor of NLP is that it can be seamlessly integrated into a teacher’s existing lesson plan and lead to better outcomes. A teacher who is trained in NLP has the ability to identify what a student needs in order to overcome their individual challenges and has the right set of tools to help them reach their own solution.

Suitable for teachers from nursery classes right up to those delivering adult education, NLP is a set of tools which enables individuals to not only achieve their potential but also to enjoy the experience, and develop patterns of thinking and behavior which will be useful not just inside, but also outside of the classroom too.

Training on Developing Life Skills in Young Children on May 29, 2021

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 marks a monumental milestone in the country’s education system. After a long wait of 34 years, NEP 2020 is a welcome step in the right direction, focusing on critical thinking, experiential learning, interactive classrooms, integrated pedagogy, and competency-based education.

Here are some of the ways in which NEP 2020 will fuel India's journey to becoming a knowledge superpower:-

  1. The current 10+2 system to be replaced by a new 5+3+3+4 curricular structure corresponding to ages 3-8, 8-11, 11-14, and 14-18 years respectively. This will bring the hitherto uncovered age group of 3-6 years under the school curriculum, which has been recognized globally as the crucial stage for the development of mental faculties of a child. The new system will have 12 years of schooling with three years of Anganwadi/ pre-schooling.The policy extensively focuses on universalizing access from early childhood to higher education, integrating over 20 million out-of-school children, and makes concerted efforts for the socio-economically disadvantaged groups, which will ensure embodying antyodaya.
  1. NEP 2020 marks the exit of archaic practices and pedagogy. Theremoval of a rigid distinction between curricular, extracurricular, and co-curricular subjects in school, and the provision of multiple entry and exit options in higher education will make way for fluidity and flexibility for students to hone their skills and interests.
  2. The proposal to introduce vocational education from grade 6 onwards and the creation of a National Committee for the Integration of Vocational Education (NCIVE) is a significant move. It will not only minimize the social stigma attached with taking up a vocation as a career in the minds of students and parents but will also expose them to the various career paths including entrepreneurial ventures.
  3. The cluster-based approach of developing ‘school complexes,’ periodic assessment of competencies, National Testing Agency for conducting universal entrance examinations, and integration of technology are critical reform measures that will go a long way in bringing about the desired improvement in the quality of school education.
  4. The move to set the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) in the education policy is a right step in this direction. HECI will function as a single overarching body with four distinct functions under its ambit, viz Regulation (NHERC), Funding (Higher Education Grants Council), Accreditation (National Accreditation Council), and Setting of Academic Standard (General Education Council). The four institutions will carry out their functions independent of each other.
  5. One of the other important aspects of this new policy that is set to fundamentally transform the research landscape of the country is the creation of a National Research Foundation (NRF) that intends to fund allkinds of research proposals having a strong bearing on the nation's interest. NRF provides a level playing field as it will be open to both public and private sector institutions.

As our young nation strides towards development and advancing our capabilities globally, NEP 2020 is expected shape the lives of India’s future generations.

10 Techniques of NLP for Educators
